We Love Tournaments

Tournaments for the rep players are great fun-filled active days and often a highlight of the SANDY Rep players year. We didn’t know if they would happen this year but we are certainly glad they did. Many thanks to all the hardworking volunteers, umpires and staff who made it happen in what was an incredibly short time frame. A special shout out to our coaches who plan and report on every game to ensure we learn, have lots of game time and become a team.

The first tournament for the season was for our U11s at Chelsea. These players were SO excited to be playing a game of netball. It was a miserable and cold day out, “but we did not care”. “We learnt heaps and played lots of netball”. “We were excited to be lining up for medals”.

The sun shone for our second tournament on the 2nd May at Caulfield with SANDY fielding teams in every age bracket. We had the athletics stand for our home base to sit, eat and congregate. It was such a great day and filled with success as Sandy had a team in the finals in each age bracket: U13s to Opens.

Congratulations to:
U17s: Winners of the Grand Final
Opens: Runners up in Grand Final
15/3: Competed in Semi Finals

We then travelled to Dandenong for DDNA’s annual tournament. There was a sea of players, luckily, we had been given benches on the indoor courts for our meeting place. We saw lots of fantastic netball. Once again Sandy was strong in the field and we had finals for U13, U15s and Opens. Our 15/1s and U17s did not play this tournament.

Congratulations to:
15/3s & Dev team: Grand Final WINNERS
Opens: Runners up in the Grand Final
15/2: Finished 3rd
13/1: Finished 3rd
